USAGE IS LIMITED FOR GUESTS AS FOLLOWS:
CANTEEN USE – 2 VISITS THEN JOIN
RANGE USE – 2 VISITS THEN JOIN
(EXCEPTIONS for spouse or children younger than 18)
LOG INTO GUEST BOOK IN CANTEEN AT EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY

INFORMATION FOR NEW OR CURRENT MEMBERS INCLUDING
RANGE SAFETY AND USAGE RULES (As of 05/22/2020)
POST MEMBERS AND ACCOMPANIED GUESTS MAY USE THE CANTEEN, 25-YARD HANDGUN AND 100-YARD RIFLE/SHOTGUN RANGES ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING AND ANY POSTED RULES.

The long gun range includes access to a covered pavilion which may be reserved or used for various individual, family or group outings. Select organizations not necessarily affiliated with Post 6557 may be permitted to rent the facilities for specialized shooting events when managed by one or more certified range officers. Events that will not include shooting do not have to meet this stipulation.
RANGE PASSES and gate keys are available for purchase in the canteen by members-in-good-standing. Passes are valid from Jan 1 to Dec 31 of the specific year whenever purchased. Membership must be current. A pass is required for access for any recreational purpose. i.e., Dog walking. One Post membership may get one pass. All non-members are subject to the Post visitor/guest policy.
VISITOR POLICY: Non-members may visit as an accompanied guest up to two times. After which they must become a member either as a combat veteran, a close relative of a combat veteran or bonified friend of the Post (upon recommendation of a Post Officer and board approval). Guest chaperones are requested to record their guest in the guest book in the canteen at the earliest opportunity.
Post members/volunteers prepare dinners on select evenings throughout the month. These dinners are typically open to the public. The guest policies do not apply. We welcome our friends and neighbors from the community.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES FOR GUN HANDLING
APPLIES TO ANY AND ALL GUN RELATED ACTIVITIES INCLUDING MANAGED EVENTS OR HUNTING ANYWHERE ON THE POST.
NEVER POINT A GUN AT ANY PERSON FOR ANY REASON ON THIS FACILITY!
NO MATTER IF INTENTIONAL, INADVERTANT OR ACCIDENTIAL! YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO SAFELY STORE YOUR GUN AND LEAVE THE FACILITY!
1. ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION.
2. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL ON TARGET.
3. ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN UNLOADED UNTIL ON THE FIRING LINE.
4. FIRE ONLY AT VERIFIED TARGETS.
5. GUNS BEHIND THE ACTIVE FIRING LINE WILL HAVE THEIR CYLINDERS, SLIDES OR BOLTS LOCKED OPEN AND MAGAZINES REMOVED UNLESS CASED OR HOLSTERED.
6. NO INDIVIDUAL WILL EVER BE BETWEEN A TARGET ZONE AND AN ACTIVE SHOOTER. CALL A CEASE FIRE TO SET OR CHECK TARGETS.
7. ANY PERSON MAY CALL A CEASE FIRE. ALL SHOOTING WILL STOP AND GUNS WILL BE KEPT POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION UNTIL RELIEVED.
8. IF YOUR GUN FAILS TO FIRE WHEN THE TRIGGER IS PULLED (A MIS-FIRE) HOLD YOUR SHOOTING POSITION FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE ATTEMPTING RECOVERY. NEVER LOOK IN THE MUZZLE!
9. IN CASE OF ANY MALFUNCTION, CLEAR IT SAFELY. WATCH MUZZLE DIRECTION.
10. ALWAYS USE EYE AND EAR PROTECTION WHEN SHOOTING.
11. POLICE YOUR BRASS AND GENERAL AREA.
12. NO FULLY AUTOMATIC OR CLONES ON THE FACILITY WITHOUT PERMISSION.
13. NO .50 CALBER FIREARMS ON THE FACILITY WITHOUT PERMISSION.
14. NUMBER 12 AND 13. REQUEST PERMISSION FROM THE RANGE COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN AT LEAST TWO WEEKS AHEAD.
HANDGUN RANGE SPECIFIC RULES
1. NO FIRING FROM UNDER THE SHELTER OR ON THE ASPHALT.
2. NO LOADED GUNS BEHIND THE FIRING LINE.
3. PLACE TARGETS NEAR THE BACK-STOP BERM.
4. TARGETS MUST BE BETWEEN TWO FEET AND SIX FEET FROM GROUND LEVEL (IF PLACED ON THE BERM OR OTHERWISE).
5. PARK ONLY IN VALID MARKED SPOTS. KEEP THE SHELTER AND RANGE CLEAR.
6. NO RIFLE CALIBER PISTOLS NOR PISTOL CALIBER RIFLES NOR SHOTGUNS ON THE PISTOL RANGE.
7. RIFLES CHAMBERED IN .22 CALIBER SHORT, LONG, OR LONG RIFLE MAY BE FIRED ON THE PISTOL RANGE
LONG GUN (RIFLE/SHOTGUN) RANGE SPECIFIC RULES
1. UPON ARRIVAL, TURN THE RED/GREEN SIGN TO RED. IF LAST TO LEAVE, TURN IT TO GREEN. IF ORANGE IS ATTACHED, LEAVE IT RED.
2. IF THERE IS AN ORANGE SIGN, THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE FIELD AROUND THE RANGE. BE CAUTIOUS.
3. GATE SHOULD BE SECURED AFTER ENTRY AND AGAIN ON LEAVING.
4. ENTRY IS ONLY PERMITTED WITH A CURRENT MEMBERSHIP AND VALID RANGE PASS.
5. NO FIRING FROM NORTH OF THE 100 YARD FIRING LINE INCLUDING FROM UNDER THE SHELTER PLACED AT THE FIRING LINE OR THE PAVILLIAN.
6. PLACE TARGETS WITHIN FIVE (5) FEET OF THE BACK-STOP BERM. (WAIVED FOR ORGANIZED EVENTS MANAGED BY A CERTIFIED RANGE OFFICER).
7. TARGETS MUST BE NO TALLER THAN SIX (6) FEET, BOTTOMS NO LOWER THAN TWO (2) FEET. EXCEPTION FOR PRONE SHOOTERS.
8. IF ZEROING OR SHOOTING CLOSER THAN 100 YARDS, PLACE YOURSELF THAT DISTANCE FROM THE BACK-STOP BERM. THE 100 YARD FIRING LINE TAKES PRECEDENCE. COORDINATE YOUR POSITIONING WITH OTHER SHOOTERS. NO PERSON MAY EVER BE BETWEEN THE BACK-STOP BERM AND ANY ACTIVE SHOOTER.
9. ABSOLUTELY NO SHOOTING FROM NORTH OF THE 100 YARD LINE!
10. VARIATIONS FOR ORGANIZED EVENTS MAY BE REQUESTED WITH APPLICATION FOR THE EVENT.
